We don't subscribe to the one-size-fits-all curriculum that many places follow. We believe in an individualized approach to learning music.

Our lessons are taught through our Arpeggio® lesson system which is backed by the science and psychology of learning.

New students receive a free onboarding session where we will talk about your goals and hopes for your lessons. We'll evaluate your personality and talk about your preferences. Then we will build a program customized to you, using proven methods for learning music.

Plus you'll get our trained teachers, the Arpeggio lesson system, community, excellent client service, modern technology, and so much more.

Pricing depends upon your needs, wants, and goals. The music lesson package, school location, and lesson length will also affect your pricing.

Some of our most dedicated students will invest up to $1200 per month for their musical education with us. But we try to make things affordable for everyone. Memberships start at $207 per month in our New York City location. They start at $169 per month in our San Antonio music school and Sage Music Online.

Our flex plan will allow for even lower rates if you aren't looking for weekly lessons.

We make it simple. You’ve got three options:

We offer private lessons to students of all ages. Our youngest student is  4 years, and our oldest is 87. Our student body is about 60% adults and 40% children. Our children see the adults taking music study seriously and that creates a great learning environment. We have fun, but we also get great results.

Our students range in ability from absolute beginner to professional including students who are professional broadway performers, Emmy award winners, Saturday Night Live cast members, recording artists, and more. We’ve also helped many students win auditions into specialized high schools and major universities and conservatories.

We also have special music classes for children age 5 and below.

We can teach you how to play music simply for your own enjoyment, or we can help you prepare for exams, auditions, performances, or prepare you for a career in music.

We cater to all musical levels and work with you to achieve your goals!

We firmly believe that the only difference between a beginner and a master is the difficulty of the music.  As a beginner, you will play easier music, but play it well.  As you progress, the level of difficulty will increase .

So we start you off playing music right away. And have you playing music with artistry from the very beginning.

As your abilities develop, we ensure the music you’re playing is challenging, fun and advances your growth as a well-rounded musician.

Throughout your education, we ensure you’re playing using proper technique and posture to achieve the best possible technique.

Much of your progress, however, depends on dedicated practice outside the classroom. We supply the tools and the blueprint but you will need to put in the work.

Our course, The Sage Music Student, will teach you everything you need to know about learning music.

It’s best to always play an instrument you’re comfortable with. So we encourage students to bring their own instruments.

But we also understand that’s not always possible, for example, piano and drums. So for your convenience, we keep spare instruments available.

Our reschedule policy is the most flexible around. Reschedule any lesson with 24 hours advance notice. For full details, please see our policies.

Not at all. In fact, many students report that they learn better online. That's because they have more learning time since they not unpacking their gear during lesson time, have their lessons recorded for future reference, and have to put in a little more effort - and effortful learning is one of the keys to successful learning.

For most instruments, positioning is described the same whether you are in person or online. For example, on saxophone, you can only describe how to adjust the mouth and throat to make the sound you want because you can't see inside.

With over 3 years of experience since the beginning of covid, Sage has been perfecting the online platform for lessons and you will make the same progress whether in person or online.

No, all lessons are live 1 on 1 instruction. However, they are also recorded as the lesson happens so that you can go back and watch old lessons.

This is great if you forget what the instructor said and you can go back and review the lesson. Also, it’s a great way to go back to early months of lessons and see how much progress you’ve made.

About 63% of our students are adults who have come back to learning music after years away, or are starting for the first time. It is never too late to learn and we will teach you to learn more efficiently. Gone are the days of practicing for 3 hours a day to be good. Our science backed methods break the mold on traditional thinking and have shown proven success.

We know every student's situation is not the same. That's why we offer multiple subscriptions to fit your needs. Can’t commit to the traditional “same day / same time” each week? Then our Flex Plan gives you the SAME number of lessons per month but lets YOU schedule the lessons that week at your convenience. Plus our super flexible unlimited reschedule policy allows you to reschedule any lesson with 24 hours notice without any penalty.

Yes, we are open both weekends and weekdays and go late into the evenings during the week. We're certain we can find a time that will work for you.
